Oil Pastel Techniques can include both wet and dry techniques, and incorporate various styles which produce a variety of artwork. Oil pastels are a unique medium in that they actually blur the line between drawing and painting. On the one hand, artists draw with oil pastels since they are held in hand just like pencils or soft pastels, however with the combination of oil and pigment in the medium, they are also largely considered painting. This website chooses to view oil pastels as paintings, unless otherwise noted for some reason.
